While CVEs may design their own written tests, it is highly recommended that our exam software be used to generate exams. The answer key and a copy of the exam must be submitted to the VEC Office if you design your own written tests. All custom designed examinations must be constructed by selecting questions from the appropriate question pool according to a formula which is now determined by the NCVEC Question Pool Committee.
The questions used on written amateur tests given by VEs may be selected by:
- A qualified supplier outside of the VEC provided they meet the 97.507 requirements. (Your team must be convinced that these exams have been held in confidence by the supplier.)
Written exams may be given on a computer that has been programmed with the proper test selection formula. We offer easy-to-use PC-compatible software to W5YI-VEC-accredited VEs which not only allows exams for any class of license to be taken at the keyboard, but also makes any number of unique printed copies of tests. An PC compatible computer with CDROM and an 98/2000/XP operating system is required. Call the VEC Office to order additional copies of the software or printed exams.
