VE Manual : 5.6 Questions in Pools and Exams
The NCVEC QPC may remove questions from any of the pools due to FCC rule makings or questions that are found to be invalid for use in examinations. The Element 2 (Technician) written examinations contain 35 questions, the Element 3 (General Class) contains 35 questions and the Element 4 (Extra Class) exam contains 50 questions. The passing mark is 26 correct (Element 2 and 3) and 37 correct (Element 4). (See 97.501)
The W5YI-VEC, for ease and convenience to our exam teams, provides examination software that provides random generated exams for all 3 current question pools. We encourage all CVE Team Leaders to use our HamExam Software for exam generation and printing of tests. CVEs are allowed to make up their own custom tests from the public domain question pool, but a copy of the custom test and grading key must be submitted to us prior to use, preferably in digital form, and a hard copy with the session documents when that custom test is used. |
