On October 24, 1994, the FCC released an Order which contained the ground rules for the electronic filing of FCC Form 610 Amateur Service applications by VECs. This new computer-to-computer procedure greatly speeds up the amateur radio operator license granting process. Electronic filing of amateur radio applications began during the first quarter of 1995.
New FCC Rules 97.519(b)(3) specify that VECs must electronically forward the data contained on the NCVEC Form 605 documents directly into the FCC’s computer. After the data is forwarded electronically, the coordinating VEC retains the NCVEC Form 605 application documents in their files.
