New to Vanity Call Signs? Read our introduction to Vanity Call Signs
Anyone can change their call sign at any time! The format of the call sign you qualify for is determined by your license class. The higher your license class, the shorter the call sign you are able to obtain. Read more information in our introduction to Vanity Call Signs.
The FCC permits licensed radio amateurs to choose their own call sign subject to certain standards. You can read about these standards in our Vanity FAQ section.
The FCC regulatory fee to obtain an Amateur Radio vanity call is included in our application processing fee of $39.95. We pay all the associated regulatory fees and file the application for you electroinically with the FCC.
All you do is select the call sign you want on the online application. You can list several in order of preference in case your first choice is not available.
We will electronically submit your application to the FCC along with all the required paperwork. (There is more than one form to submit!) Our Processing Fee includes the FCC regulatory fees.
Your new call sign will appear on the online line databases at the FCC or other call sign look up services such as http://www.QRZ.com. When your new call is issued by the FCC your old call sign is cancelled and you will get a new "hard copy" license about a week later.
Submit your application here online. Our filing service is fast and extremely easy to use! Takes less than 5 minutes to fill out the form !
Since paper filings to the FCC can be confusing, the W5YI-VEC is currently handling vanity call sign renewals with a small additional processing fee added. Vanity call sign holders who do not renew their call sign will be assigned the next sequential call sign by the FCC ...not the call sign previously held. Vanity call signs - like all license renewals, vanity call signs may only be renewed during the final 90 days before expiration.
