|The Examination Fee -- is charged by a COLEM (Commercial Operator License Examination Manager.) This fee can vary depending upon which Commercial Operator License Examination Manager (COLEM) administers the examination, and the number and type of test elements administered. This fee is paid to the examiners.
As of January 1, 2010, National Radio Examiners charges a $50 fee per sitting per applicant. This fee includes the first 2 test elements taken and passed by the applicant. If the applicant fails the first element, they may re-take the element but at no additional charge. Additional elements beyond the first 2 elements are charged at $25 per element. This is the only license fee that examinees pay to the examiner. There is no FCC Regulatory Fee for taking an exam through the COLEM Program with NRE.
The FCC Regulatory Fees -- there is a $60.00 charge that applicants pay to reimburse the Government for the costs involved in the administrative processing of radio license renewals, duplicates and address changes. This fee can be paid to the FCC directly or through NRE if we handle your application for you outside of a test session. Examinees being administered examinations for a new license do not pay a Regulatory fee. Contact us at 800-669-9594 for questions dealing with FCC Fees.
